Using the Layer Properties dialog box

Use the Layer Properties dialog box to set display and editing properties of a layer. Most of these properties can also be set in the Timeline.

To edit layer properties:

1 Double-click the icon of the layer whose properties you want to edit.
2 Select one of the following options:
Name Lets you enter a name for the layer.
Show Lets you display or hide a layer.
Lock Lets you lock or unlock a layer.
Normal Is the default layer type on which you draw and animate objects.
Guide Lets you create grids, backgrounds, or other objects to help you align your artwork. You can link several normal layers to a Guide layer. See <Using guide layers.
Guided Is a normal layer that is linked to a guide layer. You can link several normal layers to a guide layer. For more information see, Tweening motion along a path.
Mask Is a layer type in which you create holes to expose the objects underneath. This is used for creating effects such as spotlights and transitions. See Using mask layers. You can link several layers to a Mask layer.
Masked Is a normal layer that is linked to a mask layer. See Using mask layers.
Layer Height Is useful for viewing sound waveforms in more detail.
